SOS Certification Program – Training vs. Certification

Level 1: Basic SOS Training Course/Conference

  • Receives foundational information regarding feeding development, evaluation, and SOS Treatment by taking the Basic SOS training Course/Conference
  • Receives simple Certificate of Attendance for Continuing Education Hours earned during course
  • Does not certify attendee in accurate use of the SOS Approach to Feeding program
  • Is listed on web page as Level 1: SOS Trained Provider

Level 2: Advanced SOS Training via Online Workshops

  • Receives foundational information on special topics in feeding and special populations of children with specific feeding problems
  • Receives Certificate of Attendance for Continuing Education Hours earned during individual workshop(s) taken online
  • Is listed on web page as Level 1 and Level 2 SOS Trained Provider (per Specific Topic or Special Population)

Level 3: SOS Certification

  • Demonstrates certified competency in treatment using the SOS Approach to Feeding
  • Receives Certificate of Attendance for Professional Development Hours earned during course
  • Receives Certification of SOS Practice upon successful completion of course
  • Acquires permission to conduct research on the SOS Approach to Feeding program
  • Is listed on web page as Level 3 Certified SOS Provider
Trained Provider = has received information on SOS Approach to Feeding Tenets and Treatment Techniques via 3.75 Day Basic training course, including treatment handouts and conference materials.  Trained providers are not expected to be master clinicians in the use of the SOS Approach to Feeding program after the Basic coursework.


Certified Provider
= has demonstrated clinical competency in accurately delivering Feeding Therapy Intervention utilizing the SOS Approach to Feeding Tenets and Treatment Strategies.   Mastery of an advanced level of clinical reasoning and knowledge in the SOS Approach to Feeding program is documented.
